She entered the 80s by winning a Grammy Award for "Never Knew Love Like This Before" in the category Best Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance in 1980.  She won the American Music Award in 1981 for Favorite Female Artist in the Soul / Rhythm & Blues.  And I'm not even talking about the 7 other nominations she had.  She is without a doubt one of the best R&B singer who did great in the 80s with hits like "Never Knew Love Like This Before", "Two Hearts", "Pilot Error", The Medecine Song", "Something in the Way You Make Me Feel" (I really like this one!) and the ballad "I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love" among others.  - MissEighties
